It has been 2 years since the last time i spent New Year's in Sydney. My last visit was a bit blurry but crazy nonetheless. And now, i'm baaaaaaack!
New Year look
Jen and I were extremely grateful that we were able to stay at a friend's place for this trip. Mike also made our sydney itinerary. And i must say it was different from my first sydney experience. This time, it was more laidback and more in tune with the local taste.
so let me share how we spent the remaining days of 2013 and new year at this side of the world...
Dec. 30, 2013
we took the afternoon flight from Adelaide to Sydney. Then took a train to reach the city.
Central Station
we had our late dinner at the best grilled chicken place ever!!! el jannah!!! omg!!!
*drools*
Dec. 31, 2013
we took the parramatta ferry to reach CBD. i was asleep at the first hour of the trip but made up by staying outside the ferry before reaching the CBD for some sight seeing. it was a cool experience! the weather was just perfect!
parramatta
mahangin sa labas. choz.
after our quick lunch at CBD, we then went back to our place to rest and prepare for new year celebration. we were actually arrived early. We were at Luna Park as early as 7 pm.
anyway, best decision to spend NYE at luna park. instant clubbing!!! too bad we didn't try riding the rides. the queues were too long.
party like a sydneysider
happy new year!
after the NYE celebration, we had a quick drinking session with one of the Filos staying in CBD. and then went home and call it a night...or if i may say, morning. hehe.
January 1, 2014
beach day!!!
the four of us went to coogee beach for some beach lovin' we loved it as it was not too crowded. i was happy sipping my jackcoke at the bench. hehe.

we reached Darling Harbour just in time for dinner and to finally have a proper catch up with one of our dear friends (and happy couple. yiheee!). sooooooooo nice having a mini reunion of some sort after 2 years. haha!
old and new friends
January 2, 2014
one of the things i was excited about during the itinerary planning was the suggested trip to aquarium. i mean, hello??!! definitely YES! So we went to explore Manly Aquarium and hung out for a while at manly beach. Maaaaaaan, the weather was just sooooo humid that it really drained the life out of me.

sooooo going back to the city, we have finally tried the famous adriano zumbo cakes. we bought some cakes to be shared over coffee and tea. based on cakemonster's review, it was ok. nothing worth gushing over.
cakes: dirty dani and wunderbar
we walked around CBD to check out pubs and had a quick photo op with the birdcages in one of the alleys. then for dinner, we went to Jamie Oliver Italian Restaurant only to find out that it will take us roughly 3 hours to be seated so we opted to kill the time at a nearby hotel (Radissun Blu Plaza) for some drinks.
pre dinner drinks and some
at around 10 pm, we were finally given a table and ordered various dishes from the menu.
sausage parpadelle and humble green salad
and before we parted ways, we had a photo op with Queen Victoria Building's swarovski christmas tree. it felt like it was a must do for every holiday visit in Sydney!
happy to have spent new year with these lovelies
Final thoughts about Sydney
honestly, i was excited and nervous at the same about this trip. hahaha! i can't help but wonder if it would be as crazy as before or it would be a more simple one. comparing the 2 trips, both were memorable but completely different.
at the end of this trip i can now say with conviction that my wild days are finally over. hahahaha!
i am eternally grateful for my new and old friends for making this trip amazing! it's really heart warming to have Filos as friends. best in hospitality!!!
I am actually looking forward to visiting Sydney again. Hopefully for my next oz holiday (next year perhaps?). there are still a lot to explore in this busy and exciting city.
crossing fingers to feel being a sydneysider again soon. cheers!
