My co - worker and I have been planning for this quick escape since forever. haha! I just wanted to get out of Jakarta for a day and my co - worker was kind enough to take me somewhere tourist-y outside of Jakarta. We decided to spend it in Bogor. :)
"Bogor's epithet is Kota Hujan, meaning "City of Rain". Statistically, it's the rainiest city on Java, and locals jokingly advise getting any sightseeing done in the morning because it's guaranteed to rain in the afternoon. Then again, tramping through the Gardens can actually be more pleasant in a cool drizzle. Lovers of Bogor will tell you that most of the time it is dry; normally, the rain falls only in heavy bursts late in the day."
GETTING TO/FROM/AROUND
Jakarta to Bogor (vice versa) via Agra Mas Bus - ~12000 idr
From my old apartment in south jakarta, we took a cab to reach "kampung rambutan", a bus terminal, enroute to Bogor.
Same route from Bogor going back to South Jakarta.
Travel time was around 1 1/2 - 2 hours depending on the traffic.
Around Bogor via angkot - ~5000 idr
one of the cheapest and fastest way to get around Bogor.
Tip: say "kiri" if you want the driver of angkot to pull over

since we were there for only a day, we went to 2 places:
Sunday Market at Sempur Field
It's a famous field in Bogor where different sports and leisure activities are held. But every sunday morning, for four hours, this field turns into a temporary market where you can buy various assortment of goodies. you can find clothes, shoes, house stuff, pets, food and a lot more.

Kebun Raya (Botanical Garden)
more than 80 hectares of garden. it was so wide that it will take up more than a day if you try to explore the whole place. it was massive!
entrance fee: 9500 idr
Tip: bring umbrella because weather is unpredictable. scorching hot now, non - stop rain pour the next minute.

TRAVEL IN STYLE
since traveling to Bogor and around it was mostly commute, i opted to wear something simple but still girly. flats are a must especially when touring around the garden.
Final thoughts about Bogor
it was a quick, random and fun day, i enjoyed it despite the unpredictable weather. i'm thinking of hitting Bogor again as i was told that there are a lot of factory outlets there. i'm planning to shop for winter stuff in preparation for my winter tour at the end of the year. this means Bogor Round 2 is in the works. can't wait! :)
