Mystical Siquijor: Island of Fire

june 20 - 21, 2010

absolutely breathtaking! pier terminal pa lang winner na!i rarely admire beaches but this one is truly amazing!

travel tips to those who wants to explore and experience siquijor!

HOW TO GET TO/FROM

trcycle from sibulan airport to city port terminal = 50 pesos
daily ferry trips from dumaguete to siquijor via delta fast ferry. it's a one hour ferry ride = 120 pesos (dumaguete-siquijor, 160 pesos siquijor-dumaguete) and 15 pesos terminal fee
siquijor port - coco grove resort = ~200 pesos (trcycle). depends on how you haggle with the driver. i'm assertive so we got cheap fare going to resort.hahaha :)) but if you want to be picked up by the resort, it's 400 pesos.

FOOD
cocogrove's sunset restaurant = where we had our lunch and breakfast. beach front and food is ok.
cocogrove's salamandas restaurant = where we had our dinner. it was kinda expensive and had mosquito bites here
cocogrove's bar = drinks are pricey. 35 pesos for red horse and 100 plus for cocktails.hehe
there are stores outside the resort. sari sari stores to be exact. bought tanduay ice for only 22 pesos.haha :)

ACCOMMODATION

we stayed at the best! we stayed at cocogrove resort! hahaha :)) we got the deluxe room with extra bed. it was cute! there's a ref, sofa and veranda BUT no TV. hehe :)

PROs
> best shoreline
> clear water
> unlimited use of the beach and pool
> staff are very friendly
> peaceful and relaxing. perfect for soul searching!
> not crowded at all. puro foreigners, kami lang pinoy
> you can truly say "this is life!"

CONs
>no tv, weak globe signal (which i think is good if you want to relax)
>no service water in restaurants except on breakfast

just talking about this place makes me want to go back.haha :))

i super recommend this to couples, honeymooners and family :)

amazing pics ahead :)

Hi, nice review. :) I'm going there with a friend next week. Do you think the food in Cocogrove is worth it? I hear that the meals cost Php300 up. Can you recommend a good eating place outside the resort? :) Hope you see this comment soon! :)

hi! well, my friends and i tried going out the resort to look for a carinderia (we walked around)but we never found one near at the resort. we only saw sari sari store where we bought chips and booze. we had no choice but to dine in at the resort's restaurant.

anyway, i think sunset restaurant is cheaper than the salamandas restaurant.

hope my reply helps and have fun on your vacay :)

Hi, thanks for the reply! :)) I actually don't mind paying if the food is ok. It's just that I read not so good reviews about their food, that's why I'm a bit hesitant to eat there. Anyway, maybe we'll just follow what you did!:) We'll buy din drinks at the sari-sari store outside. Hope they don't run out of Tanduay Ice. :) Thanks for the tips!

Keep on posting blog entries! :)
