I spy..heart reflection...
after much discussion of our possible itinerary for my 2 week stay, we finally included a roadtrip to San Francisco. It was a meticulous process to decide between driving for 4 hours, a long drive but more cost effective and a flight for 1 hour, shorter travel time but more expensive. We chose the former. Well, besides that it was more cost effective for us, we wanted not to worry what time to leave Los Angeles since The Boyfriend might be called in for work, which actually happened on our supposed trip.
Anyway, we were lucky enough to have a place to stay in Dublin, a 50 minute drive from San Francisco. A friend of The Boyfriend lent us their place while they were away on a holiday. We were extremely grateful for the stay.
Given a short time of our trip, we were actually in San Francisco for only half a day. The Boyfriend, who is a San Francisco frequent visitor mapped our way around the city. We left Dublin after meeting his godparents for lunch in Dublin.
Our first stop was of course, the Golden Gate Bridge. You might have a lot of questions about golden gate bridge like why orange? how frequent is it painted? Check this FAQ to know more information about this famous bridge.
enroute
This spot might not be the usual go-to-place to view the bridge but it was fine. Well, at least for me. hehe.
check out the photo bomber. hehe.
driving around brought us to a hillside park. Not so crowded place so we parked and hung out for a while and waited til sunset. We had no idea what this place was until i researched it after. It was the World War II West Coast Memorial.
"The West Coast Memorial is one of three A.B.M.C. memorials on U.S. soil dedicated to missing soldiers of World War II;the others are the East Coast Memorial at Battery Park in New York City and the Honolulu Memorial in Hawaii."

The Boyfriend was curious to check out a beautiful gigantic structure we saw while driving enroute to golden gate bridge. Apparently, he was referring to Palace of Fine Arts. We were there past sunset so it was a bit hard to capture its beauty in our digicam. Well, besides this magnificent place, we were likewise mesmerized by the houses surrounding the lake. You could actually view the houses' interiors from outside and let me tell you, it looked pretty, dreamy and cozy.
Picturesque
Next to our itinerary was Ghirardelli Square. It is a massive plaza housing several dining options and shops and of course the first ghirardelli ice cream and chocolate shop. There was a long queue to order their desserts, which of course was understandable given it is one of the tourist destinations in San Francisco. So make sure you have ample time to spend here. Anyway, we ordered the famous hot fudge sundae to share and we also bought some chocolate varieties for personal consumption. hahaha!
chocolate heaven...well, at least in San Francisco
Since it was nearing dinner time already, we went to fisherman's wharf to buy some seafood dishes for take out. We did walk around first to explore some areas of fisherman's wharf. We were so surprised how the weather changed from cold to windy cold. We bundled up but it was too cold for us and decided to have our take aways back at our place. We later learned that San Francisco had a wind storm that very day. Crazy!
all bundled up
yum!
Our last stop before going home was the Union Square. The Boyfriend wanted to take me here and have our photo taken at the gigantic christmas tree to commemorate our holidays spent together. Insert: cheesy Since it was too cold for us, we didn't stay that long. too bad we weren't able to walk around the square. The wind storm was kicking our butts. I would love to see union square at day time, it must be very nice.

Last Thoughts about San Francisco
One word to describe this experience: BITIN! [English Translation: short of/not fully satisfied/lacking] It would have been more magical if I was able to explore the bay area more than just a half day trip. I wanted to see Alcatraz, lombart street and others. I wanted to experience taking their public transportation. I wanted to experience food tripping. Well, despite these wishlist, I am still grateful for the chance to experience San Francisco. And most especially with The Boyfriend.
Anyway, i am hopeful that i can get to visit again next time. Crossing fingers and toes for a longer stay. hehe.
Toodles!
