Canada Visa

Prior to my Holiday trip last December, The Boyfriend insisted that i should get a canadian visa so we can cross border from my brother's place. Yes, insisted. haha! If I was granted with a visa, we'll take the land border trip to Vancouver for an overnight stay and if not, we'll spend it in Seattle instead. So, i gathered all the requirements i think i need and applied for a tourist visa.

That said, here are the details how i applied my canadian tourist visa here in Jakarta.

Requirements/Documents at hand:
  1. Passport
  2. Scanned copy of my working permit visa
  3. Certificate of employment stating the approved date leaves
  4. Pay slip for the past 3 months
  5. Bank statements for the past 3 months
  6. Credit Card Bills for the past 3 months
  7. Copy of Flight bookings (RT: CGK-LAX, RT: LAX-SEA)
  8. 2 Passport photos: white background with both ears uncovered (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  9. Filled up visa application form
Timeline:

November 12, 2014 (Wednesday) - I called my go-to travel agency,
Bayu Buana in Kelapa Gading to inquire about the canadian tourist requirements. The agency then emailed me about the requirements and visa application form to be filled up.

November 22, 2014 (Saturday) - I submitted my requirements and paid the visa processing fee (Rp.1.600.000.-- + 1%vat) at the travel agency

November 28, 2014 (Friday) - I was informed by the travel agent that my visa has been granted and I can pick up my passport. YAHOOOOOO!!!

November 29, 2014 (Saturday) - I went to the travel agency to pick up my passport and found out that my surname was misspelled. So I have to return it and request to have it changed.

December 5, 2014 (Friday) - I was informed that my passport with the correct spelling of my surname in my visa was ready for pick up.

December 6, 2014 (Saturday) - I picked up my passport from the travel agency.

Suffice to say, it took 5 working days for my visa application to be processed. Physical appearance nor interview was not required for this type of visa application. I was actually surprised that i was granted one as i haven't given any accommodation booking nor flight bookings to Canada. The boyfriend, on the other hand, was very excited with the news.

I would share our Vancouver trip soon. But to give you an insight, that Vancouver trip of ours was one of my favorite destinations of 2014. heehee. It was truly worth it to pushed through with this visa application. I can imagine The Boyfriend snickering and saying "I told you so!" while reading this entry. haha!

Watch out for my Vancouver Trip Report! Toodles!

Passion for travel is what I can see here and needless to say, I like how you take up all the confusion and hustle that comes with visiting new places and just make it like a simple how-to-do guide. The requirements for applying the visa are also well highlighted and I might just try this procedure out next time I am visiting Vancouver.

It’s really a great topic selected by you to discuss over here. Sometime it’s difficult to get approval on visa. Lot of people discuss such things online and try to find out solution for the same so sharing such things which relate to visa, can really help people.
Thanks & Regards,
