Bogor, Indonesia: Road Trip with the Locals

June 6, 2013

it was a public holiday and one of the kindergarten teachers planned a roadtrip using the school's own school bus. so, together with some of the admin officers, teachers and school boys, we embarked on a roadtrip to one of the cities outside of Jakarta.

overwriting

since it was a public holiday, the traffic was terrible. we left Jakarta around 7 in the morning and reached to our first destination around 12 noon already.

Cimory Resto

"Cimory" is a well known brand of milk in Indonesia. fortunately, they also have a restaurant with an amazing view in Bogor. i was truly awed with the view, very very relaxing while dining.

as for the food, it was so - so. i ordered a sausage meal with salad and wedges on the sides. it was ok, unremarkable. the others ordered traditional food (e.g. nasi goreng) and they said it was also ok.

photo ops

it was a gloomy day, hence, not so bright on our photo ops. nonetheless, it was still cool to linger around the river area. the grounds were well - kept and walkways are litter - free, though, slippery when wet.

time to shop

after delighting ourselves with the view and the much needed fuel for our growling tummies, we all spent the next 30 minutes and more shopping for "oleh oleh" (translation: souvenirs/pasalubong) which were mostly food! my favorite will have to be the "chocomory" store. a store housing amazing chocolate varieties. free samples! and as much as i wanted to hoard, i was in a semi - strict diet so i only treated myself one pack of chocomory chocolate wafers.

and then, we continued our roadtrip to...

Kebun Raya (Botanical Garden)

i was excited to see the botanical garden again. my last visit was a low time for me so it was good to finally overwrite those memories. heehee.

...road trippin' ain't complete without food trippin'

Macaroni Panggang

one of the famous food stops in Bogor. must try they say. well, we did! we tried the macaroni panggang itself. it's like a baked macaroni with grated cheese on top, sans the sauce. hefty size and not so expensive too. for a pasta lover like me, 1 - 2 servings are enough though.

and oh, the tiramisu was a disappointment. sad.

  food trip # 1

Rumah Cupcakes

"rumah" means "house". this house of cupcakes was also a recommended food pitstop. sadly, cupcakes were limited at that time. we only had a choice between vanilla cupcake and red velvet cupcake. the vanilla cupcake was cheap and for its price, it was yummy.

 food trip # 2

Pia Apple Pie

another stop to our food tripping. i bought and tried their yummy apple delicacies. everything was delish! my fave would have to be the apple crumble tart. i was actually thinking of trying their blueberry cheesecake but decided will try them next time.

ooooh, their place was also nice and cozy! it would have been more fun if we dined in. oh well, another reason for me to go back.

Food Trip # 3

Final Thoughts About Bogor

i never knew that Bogor has a lot to offer, food wise i mean. i am thankful to Ms. Titin for planning this roadtrip plus sharing to us the must-eat places in Bogor.

moreover, it is refreshing to spend more time with the people i work with outside school premises. i do hope we get to have this type of recreation once in a while.

in other news, i'm happy to share that i've been lurking around indonesia since the start of the year. i get to see new and old places every month. from long weekends to quick city tour to road trips. it has been rewarding to explore more this side of the world. hopefully, i'll get to visit more places next time. crossing fingers for more indonesia adventures! semangat, dong!
