*late post*
i'm supposed to post a blog about my anyer weekend trip prior to this entry but i'm still waiting for the pictures so let me get started to yet another late post trip report. hahaha!
anyway, some pinoy friends from malaysia came over to visit Indonesia. they were actually a friend of friend's. i was invited to join them exploring the city. i agreed since it was a sunday plus it would be fun playing semi-tourist guide with fellow pinoys.
since we were a group of 8, they rented a car (with driver) to take us around the city. i was lucky enough to be picked up from my apartment before the city tour commenced. actually, i imposed on it. wahaha!

ok, so enough non-sense chika and here are some details of the supposed "Jakarta City Tour".

MONAS
aaaand i'm back! i don't know what made me agree of going to this place again. hahaha! i think it was the idea that i can finally see what was inside or rather the underground area of the monument.
i'm so sorry but i was royally disappointed with this tourist attraction. it was both funny and irritating when we waited almost 30 minutes for a "show" to start. only to realize the supposed show was just a television like glass set showcasing the original text of proclamation of independence. i won't go into details what happened after realizing what we have waited for almost half an hour. it was epic! hahahaha!

TAMAN MINI
the last time i went here was when i was still living at South Jakarta. truth be told, i never imagined i'll be going back to this place again but i'm so glad i did. despite the ever changing weather that day and the massive crowd all over the place, it was actually nice to explore this place. half day is not enough to cover the whole park.
TIP: take the cable car ride (25,000 IDR) to have an overview of the whole park so you can choose what areas to explore after

ANCOL
ancol is a wide compound of everything. literally wide and literally everything. since it was already late in the afternoon, we went to their "beach walk". it was my first time to see this area of ancol at daytime. hahaha! it was a refreshing change from what i was used to. moreover, i was so ecstatic to see a grilled corn (inihaw na mais) stand. one of my favorite snack to munch on. so after being stupidly burned from the roast, we all walked to the bridge to enjoy the view while munching on our grilled corns. too bad the sunset was partially hidden by the clouds. nevertheless, it was great.

Bandar Djakarta
this restaurant is so famous it is actually becoming a tourist destination. or maybe it is already. mind you, getting a table is not a simple process. you have to wait to secure a table. it would take around 20 - 30 minutes and it all depends how early you're able to reserve a table. after which, you'll go to the live-sea-creatures-in-aquarium area to choose what you want to have for dinner and how you like your seafood to be cooked. in the Philippines, we call it "dampa" style. you may opt to have some for grilled, have it in a soup or in whatever sauce you want.
TIP: come early. as early as 5 - 6 pm.

happy birthday ganda!
Final Thoughts about Jakarta
Besides the tourist destinations that Jakarta offers, your Jakarta experience will not be complete without experiencing the infamous Jakarta traffic jam. of course our pinoy guests experienced it! hahaha!
crazy as it seems, for being a more than 2 years resident of this city, Jakarta always manages to surprise me. i happily and unexpectedly overwrote memories. drama prelude aside, one of the highlights of this experience is also gaining new friends. it was great meeting francis, franco and vince. :)
