Bandung, Indonesia: Road Trip 2013 [Kawah Putih + Trans Studio]

February 3, 2013

*super late post*

with the sunter group

I was invited by my Sunter friends to join them on a roadtrip to Bandung. i accepted their invitation as not only the company will be fun but also, i was looking forward to seeing the crater lake (#1 on our bandung-roadtrip list) wherein Bandung is known for.

for this trip, i was neither an organizer nor itinerary maker. i was just basically a tourist. hahaha! my sunter friends organized everything and they sent me the breakdown of expenses so i can share it here in my blog.

and since traffic in indonesia is unpredictable as ever, we were only able to squeezed in 2 major destinations for this road trip: Kawah Putih (side trip to Kampung Stroberi) and Trans Studio.

ok, let's get started...

A volcano crater lake found in Mt. Patuha. two options to reach this lake: leave your car in the carpark then ride the shuttle bus (with fee) to reach the lake area or drive up until you reach the the visitor area of the lake. we've done the latter. then you have to take the pathway leading to the crater itself.

mind that the crater (lake) gives off a strong smell of sulfur. thus, it is recommended to only stay 15 minutes max to have your photos taken or roam around. more than the recommended time spent here may result to lung problems (cough, etc).

KAMPUNG STROBERI (Strawberry Village)

after exploring the volcano crater, we decided to drop by the strawberry village. they offer free pick-your-strawberries experience and just pay the total weight of the strawberries you have picked. As far as i remember, La Trinidad in Benguet (Philippines) strawberry farm is quite different here in Bandung (Indonesia). regardless, i was a happy camper with my freshly picked strawberries! heehee.

this is where we have spent our afternoon. finally experiencing Indonesia's version of "Universal Studios". you can check out their website for more information.

anyway, as for me, all i want was to have a carnival food trip. a bit expensive for cotton candy and popcorn, but hey, this was my own version of fun. haha!

Final Thoughts about Bandung

one of my favorite out of town road trip destinations is Bandung. somehow, I always look forward every time there is a chance of a Bandung road trip. this time the excitement was doubled as one of the destination is a must see spot! moreover, i had a great time with my roadtrip travel buds. as for the Trans Studio, don't expect too much. i didn't and surprisingly it was an ok experience. once is enough though.

so, if you ever find yourself thinking where to go for a roadtrip here in Indonesia, you should actually consider exploring Bandung.
